The Government of Punjab has launched an interest free 20,000 bikes distribution scheme among male and female students. Roundabout 1,000 will be electric bikes and 19,000 will be petrol bikes. There will be no interest charged to students on their monthly installments. The monthly installment for electric bikes is less than Rs. 10,000, while for petrol bikes is less than Rs. 5,000. The Punjab government and the Bank of Punjab (BOP) have partnered to distribute bikes in a way that makes it easier for students.

There are defined quotas in place to ensure equal opportunity. The bikes will be distributed equally amongst male and female students in urban areas. There is a small difference in rural areas with 30% of the quota designated for female students and 70% for male students.

This program is launched under the direction of the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) Punjab government which attempts to reduce the cost and tension of student transportation. CM Punjab Maryam Nawaz has said that the number of bikes can be increased. When electric bikes become more widely available, students will be able to commute to school more easily.

محکمہ ٹرانسپورٹ پنجاب نے بدھ کے روز بینک آف پنجاب کے ساتھ طلباء کو آسان ماہانہ اقساط پر 20,000 موٹر سائیکلیں فراہم کرنے کے معاہدے پر دستخط کیے۔ بائیک کے لیے طلبہ و طالبات کی رجسٹریشن کا آغاز جلد از جلد کردیا جائے گا۔
حکومت پنجاب کل 20,000 بائک تقسیم کرنے کا ارادہ رکھتی ہے، جن میں سے 1,000 الیکٹرک بائک اور 19,000 پیٹرول بائیکس ہوں گی۔
