Chief Minister Punjab has announced another groundbreaking initiative for exceptional students in Punjab: the HONHAAR UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM.

She firmly believes that higher education is a fundamental right that should not be denied to talented students due to financial constraints. The Punjab Government will fully fund undergraduate degree programs in 68 selected disciplines across all 50 Public Sector Universities, 16 Medical Colleges, 131 Graduate Colleges of HED, as well as renowned institutions like LUMS, FAST National University, COMSATS, Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute (GIKI), NUST, and 7 other leading Private Sector Universities in Punjab.

Each year, a generous 30,000 scholarships will be awarded, with an investment of over PKR 7 billion this year alone. The Honhaar Scholarship Program is expected to benefit more than 120,000 students over the next four years, with a total investment of over PKR 130 billion in eight years. The Punjab Government views this as an investment in promoting equity and access to higher education for brilliant and deserving young students, rather than an expense. Eligibility Criteria
Applicant must:
- Domicile: Have domicile from any district of Punjab.
- Age: Be under 22 years old on the closing date.
- Family Income: Have a family monthly income below Rs. 300,000 (Affidavit required).
- Enrollment: Be enrolled in a selected discipline at a selected university or college for the fall 2024 session. Newly enrolled MBBS and BDS students in 2024 are also eligible.
- Minimum Marks:
- Medical Colleges: > 80% FSc./Intermediate
- Top Universities: > 80% FSc./Intermediate
- Public Sector Universities: > 75% FSc./Intermediate for Sciences, > 70% for Arts & Social Sciences
- HED Colleges: > 65% FSc./Intermediate for Sciences, > 60% for Arts & Social Sciences
